10 Fun Things to Do on New Year’s Eve in Rhode Island

It’s almost 2019, but before we reach that milestone, we have to usher out 2018 and celebrate. Do you love big crowds or do you prefer more intimate events? Maybe you enjoy celebrating New Year’s Eve with the whole family instead. Don’t worry. Regardless of your preferences, there’s something fun to do in Rhode Island on the last night of the year. From Newport to Providence, here are our favorites. 

New Year’s Eve Gatsby Style, Newport, RI

Channel your inner Gatsby and dress the part, too. New Year’s Eve Gatsby Style will be held at Forty One Degrees North in Newport, a very lush, trendy spot. Tickets are $75, and include hors-d’oeuvres, music from the Gatsby Style Trio, an open bar from 9 p.m. to midnight, a champagne toast at midnight and watching the ball drop in NYC via web cam on big screens. 

New Year’s Eve Party at Chef Walter’s Cooking School, Providence, RI

Replicate a typical New Year’s Eve in Italy at Chef Walter’s Cooking School. You’ll spend an evening in the kitchen working on 10 recipes covering various regions in Italy, as well as the customs of each region. All the guests will dine together, along with the chef, and each will receive a Chef Walter cooking apron and a copy of his book, Federal Hill Flavors and Knowledge. The event runs from 7-11 p.m. on New Year’s Eve. Tickets are $150 per person.

Revue Year’s Eve: Tear the Roof Off!, Providence, RI

The Empire Revue is the “longest-running sketch and variety show” in Providence. On New Year’s Eve, they’re presenting “Revue Year’s Eve: Tear the Roof Off,” featuring music by the band Superchief Trio. Enjoy music, comedy, magicians, dancing and more. After the stage show, Superchief Trio turns the rest of the evening into a dance party, with a countdown to 2019 commencing just before midnight. The venue’s bar will be open for drinks to toast the New Year. The show starts at 9 p.m. Tickets are $20, and may be purchased online.

Black and White New Year Party at Whiskey Republic, Providence, RI

Ring in New Year’s Eve at Whiskey Republic at their Black and White New Year Party. The 21 and up event includes a DJ, dancing, food and more. General admission tickets are $30, with VIP packages running all the way up to $300 for a Moet VIP table. Grab your friends and get ready for one of the more highly anticipated New Year’s Eve bar parties.

Yellow Kittens New Year’s Ball, Block Island, RI

Bid adieu to 2018 at Yellow Kittens New Year’s Ball on Block Island. The island’s oldest pub, locals and visitors alike will dance the night away and ring in 2019, thanks to DJ Libre, aka Danielle Duffy. There won’t be a traditional ball drop, but this event more than makes up for it with a collection of other activities. Contact the pub for information about tickets.

New Year’s Eve Gala: 70s Austin Powers at Ocean House, Watch Hill, RI

Celebrate New Year’s Eve indulging in gourmet foods inspired by Austin Powers. You’ll enjoy an elegant evening in wide black tie, including a gourmet dinner and dessert stations, signature cocktails, photo ops, live music and more. This is the most anticipated event in Rhode Island all year. If you care to ring in 2019 with ritzy set, it will set you back $185 per person, but it certainly sounds like it will be an event to remember.

A rooftop NYE Celebration in Providence? You read that right—celebrate at the famous Rooftop at the Providence G! New Year’s Eve at Castle Hill Inn, Newport, RI

Enjoy fine dining on New Year’s Eve at the elegant Castle Hill Inn. A five-course tasting menu will pay homage to the chef’s hero, the late Chef Joel Robuchon. Chef Robuchon earned 32 Michelin Stars throughout his career, and Chef Lou intended to honor him by serving several of his signature favorites. Two seating’s were available, however the later seating has sold out. Seating is still available for the earlier, between 5:45 and 6:45 p.m. The cost is $145 per person. Boogie Nights New Year’s Eve Party at Twin River Casino, Lincoln, RI

Boogie 2018 away at Boogie Nights New Year’s Eve Party at Twin River Casino. Doors open at 7:30 p.m., with a buffet dinner starting at 8. A $115 ticket includes dinner, two drink tickets, premium seats by the dance floor, party favors and a champagne toast.
