A Grand Opening was held on Saturday, October 8, 2005 to invite the Cape Verdean community and others to come and view the location space and to celebrate this accomplishment. This went well despite the weather because the enthusiasm and positive attitude of all that visited the museum told us that the community embraced the idea of a museum to tell our stories.

The permanent opening date of the Cape Verdean Museum Exhibit was Saturday, March 25, 2006 and thus marked the historical addition of this cultural museum to the community. The Cape Verdean Museum Exhibit would not have been accomplished without the support of the community. Through fundraising, pledges and donations, a space has been secured for the museum.

Two rooms hold displays of artifacts and pictures. In one room, the exhibit theme tells the history and stories of the Cape Verdeans of New England. In another room, the exhibit theme tells the history and stories of Cape Verde.

To continue our goal and mission, we ask that the community continue to support the fundraising events of the Cape Verdean Museum Exhibit.

Donations are always accepted. The Cape Verdean Museum Exhibit needs artifacts, books, etc., to tell the stories of Cape Verde and to tell the stories of the Cape Verdeans of New England.
