University of Rhode Island: Best Late Night Food Spots

Sometimes as a college student all you want is a quick bite from the hours of 9 p.m. to about one in the morning. Call it a food run, a beer run or a snack run, the results are about the same: grab a bite and get back to your studies. If you’re in the area of the University of Rhode Island, you have plenty of great options. Here are the best late-night food spots in the area. 

The Rhode House, Kingston, RI

As it turns out, the best place to get late-night food when you are a URI student is at the URI on-campus emporium. Serving paninis, wraps, salads, calzones, strombolis, and mash bowls, the Rhode House is the ultimate quick bite. Choose from a vast selection of  Have several appetizers, like doughboys and garlic knots. Call ahead for pick up and on-campus delivery.

Mews Tavern, Wakefield, RI

Originally a small fisherman's tavern which opened in 1947, this lively pub has dozens of craft beers on tap, a scotch list, and an array of large screen HD TVs. With an extensive menu that offers locally-sourced seafood, meat, and produce, Mews offers down-home cooking and pub food in a casual eating environment. Start with "High Gravity" Cheese Tots, Old Bay fried pickles, or bourbon teriyaki sticky ribs before moving on to entrees.

Kabuki, Wakefield, RI

Kabuki offers sushi and modern Japanese fare in a casual dining room. There is also a fully-stocked bar in the lounge and a late-night menu with a live DJ on most nights. Chophouse Grille, Wakefield, RI

The Chophouse has been dishing out heaping portions of quality steak and seafood dishes since 2014. With a late-night menu chock full of appetizers and sandwiches, notable items include a nine-ounce burger with caramelized onions, roasted tomato, and sharp cheddar cheese. Plus, be sure to try the bacon wrapped meatloaf, the inside out Beef Wellington, or the surf and turf with tenderloin medallions and lump crab.

Gregg's Restaurants & Taverns, Multiple locations

Established in 1972, Gregg’s quickly became famous for their award-winning home-style desserts. Plus, they offer an extensive menu of down-home favorites that are made from only the freshest ingredients.  Find gourmet sandwiches, chicken & biscuits, pot pie, home-style soups, chowder, and an extensive beer/wine menu. As for dessert, try just under 50 cake, pie, and strudel options.

Mariner Grille, Narragansett, RI
