The 8 Best Festivals in Rhode Island!

No matter the season, it seems like there’s always something going on in Rhode Island. Whether you like culture, food, or are just a little quirky, you’ll find a festival perfect for you! Here are our 8 favorites.

Newport Folk Festival, Newport, RI

Hosted at Fort Adams State Park just a few weeks ahead of another equally popular music festival, the Newport Folk Festival welcomes music fans to a beautiful spot along the Rhode Island shores to jam out to artists like Flight of the Conchords, Father John Misty, Patti Smith, and the Alabama Shakes.

Seafood Festival, Charlestown, RI

Rain or shine, join Rhode Island seafood lovers to eat up an array of local Rhode Island seafood delicacies, including lobster, shrimp, and more. They even put on fireworks Saturday night for dinner with a show.

Newport Jazz Festival, Newport, RI

This first-ever jazz festival is now recognized on an international stage. It’s hosted in early August every year in Newport’s Fort Adams State Park, and has welcomed the likes of Duke Ellington, John Coltrane, and Ella Fitzgerald to its hallowed stages.

Gaspee Days, Warwick, RI

This annual festival commemorates the day in 1772 when Rhode Island colonists burned down the HMS Gaspee, a British ship. It’s said to be the precursor to the Boston Tea Party. Celebrate Rhode Island’s long-ignored history with live music, a 5K, and fireworks—all while war re-enactors socialize around you!

Newport Kite Festival, Newport, RI

Each July, Rhode Islanders fill the sky with incredibly colorful kites. Whether you’ve got a huge display to show off or just want to fly a simple kite, come out and enjoy the sunshine and breeze at Brenton Point State Park.

Rhode Island PrideFest, Providence, RI

Rhode Island’s annual pride parade is held each year at night, making it uniquely different from other cities’ pride festivals. Take in the light displays along the parade and celebrate sexuality with Rhode Island’s lively LGBTQ community!

Newport Winter Festival, Newport, RI

Could Newport host any more festivals? Yes! Head out to this beach city in February for 10 days of music, food and adventure! Choose to take part in more than 150 events, fun for both adults and children. Fun events include a chili cook off and a princess party.

RI International Film Festival, Providence, RI

In early August each year, the RI Film Fests showcases some of the best independent talent in filmmaking of the year. They also welcome special guests, host film screenings, and master classes.
